Mimi Imfurst launches campaign for Drag Queen of the Year

mimimfurstdqaward.jpg

She's back!

Mimi Imfurst has been nominated as "Drag Queen of the Year" by HX Magazine again this year, so you can expect an interesting contest.

Last year, Mimi whipped out her campaign slogan "Sometimes the Fat Retarded Girl Deserves to Win" and hit the campaign trail.

This year, Ms. Imfurst has recruited a running mate. You can read the whole press release from Mimi's camp after the jump.

Her running mate is self proclaimed YouTube "icon" Britney Houston. Never heard of her, but I definitely give Mimi an A+++ on creativity.

I HEARD... about some rejected lovers, administrative trannies and a hot singer!

I HEARD...

reichenaustiniheard.gif

I HEARD... that Marc Jacob's most recent boy toy has been spotted multiple times, strangely at the same place as newly single reality show hunk Reichen. Is Austin A stalking Lance's ex-boyfriend or is it a big ole coincidence?

In April, Austin told GaySocialites.com exclusively: "I wouldn't say we're dating" in reference to his relationship with Marc Jacobs.

Maybe Austin has his eyes set on something meatier? They might make a cute gay "it" couple. If they're gonna make it last, one of them better get famous for more than dating famous people really quick!

I also HEARD... that famed New York City drag queen Mimi Imfurst has retired her bullhorn for a desk job. If you haven't been seeing much of Mimi's big wig lately, that's because she is workin' 9-to-5.

Can't you imagine Mimi working at like Mode magazine or something? She could totally be the drag version of "Ugly Betty."

Regardless - catch a show when you see Mimi Imfurst on the bill, because you may not see her again right away!

I also HEARD... International recording artist Robyn whipped through New York City on Thursday leaving a trail of screaming homos in her path! Robyn kicked off Thursday evening with a recorded performance at "Late Show with David Letterman" before heading to a live performance at the Virgin Megastore.

The Gay Socialites who attended (and watched) both are reporting back with rave reviews! It looks like Robyn may land well here in the states again!

Robyn performs on Friday night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in Manhattan.

New York Drag Queen calls for Duane Reade boycott

mimiduanereadeboycott.jpgNew York City drag queen Mimi Imfurst is calling for a Duane Reade boycott after she claims an employee discriminated against her.

Imfurst evidently stopped at the Duane Reade on 57th and 6th because she "realized she wasn’t wearing any panties," according HX magazine.

Mimi says the staffers were pointing, laughing and spitting out hate.

“He was a black man, I was a white woman, and I was violated,” said Mimi.

Imfurst is asking that everyone boycott Duane Reade. I guess CVS can now adopt the slogan "CVS: Where trannies shop!"

Bringing Holy Back! The Virgin Mary Sings Again

NEW YORK, NY – After a controversial Off-Broadway run of “Mary, Like a Virgin”, downtown drag performer Mimi Imfurst has teamed up with composer Mike Pettry to create follow-upshow: “A Very Mary Christmas” just in time for the holidays. This newest production is the latest in Mimi Imfurst’s Virgin Mary cabaret chronicles.

According to production notes “over 2000 years ago in the little hillside town of Bethlehem a miraculous birth occurred. Consumed by religious doctrine and fable the story of Jesus' birth is surrounded by a cloud of mystery. Finally Jesus' Mother, Mary, is prepared to set the record straight. From the moment of conception to Jesus' emergence as religious figurehead- Mary was there.

A Very Mary Christmas is a musical retelling of the months leading up to the birth of Christ, as told by the Virgin Mary. With the help of her sidekick & accompanist Earl Weissman, Mary also shares the intimate details of her relationship with her boyfriend God, her love for her husband Joey, her feelings about Christmas and her journey to stardom. This new Christmas show is a follow up to drag artist writer/ performer Mimi Imfurst's controversial Mary, Like a Virgin.”

A Very Mary Christmas features 14 musical numbers that span pop, rock, musical theatre, country, and inspirational music. See the newest installment in Mimi Imfurst's Virgin Mary shows that have been protested nationally and called "worst than the sin of abortion" by religious extremist organizations. The show is written and performed by Mimi Imfurst (Mary) and Mike Pettry (Earl Weissman).

“A Very Mary Christmas” is the inaugural production of the new Christopher Street Theater located at Pieces Bar in the heart of Greenwich Village. Mimi Imfurst has been working closely with Pieces owner Eric Einstein to transform the previously unused space into a new performance arena for artists. Mimi Imfurst says “When I saw the room, which was used as a piano bar in the past, and had basically become a giant storage room, I imagined many possibilities for the room. I approached owner Eric Einstein about transforming the room into a functional cabaret and theatre space and he agreed. I’m so excited that Eric (Einstein) is as dedicated and excited as I am about the potential for the new Christopher Street Theater as a space for unique artists to workshop and present untraditional theatre without the intense overhead costs of producing off-beat pieces like A Very Mary Christmas.”

Mary, Like a Virgin is produced by Sanctuary Productions & TJ Micallef. The production runs opens December 1st at the new Christopher Street Theater at Pieces (8 Christopher Street between Gay St & Greenwich Ave at 6th Ave), performing Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm through December 23rd. Tickets are $10.00 and available through the show’s website, www.virginmarylive.com or by calling TheatrerMania at 212-352-3101.

The Gospel According to Mimi: Sleeping with Straight Boys

By Mimi Imfurst Columnist

It’s a myth that gay men often have about straight men, that there are very few who may actually be straight. Now, I’m going to run around proclaiming that heterosexuality doesn’t exist or that every man has the temptation to “get with the boys.” However, in a world where homoeroticism runs rampant in Abercrombie ads or in any number of Jackass stunts, I can’t blame the homo’s for thinking such. Still, in my experience I have had than more of my fair share of buckling down with the straight boys.

The Emancipation Proclamation of Mimi Imfurst: I'm Gayer Than You Are!

By Mimi Imfurst
Drag Queen Extraordinaire

"New York City... Center of the Universe" said the drag queen in RENT. I suppose all New Yorkers might hope that New York City is the center of the universe in a narcisstic way-of-life. This may be the case, however I think New York City is the Center of Extremes. We have it all- the poor, the rich, the talented, the not-so-talented, the gay and the REALLY REALLY gay. You know the type- the high maintence overly tweased young men who flock to the "center of the universe" to live and be gay without being bothered by the straight confinments of the world outside the gay ghetto. But what exactly does it mean to be gay? There seems to be social standards that makes someone a good (desireable) gay by both the straight and gay communities. A typical gay man might define a good gay as someone who has a muscle body (without being too muscley), who has good skin and hair, well sculpted hair, goes to the gym 3-5 times a week, dances at the Roxy or Splash atleast once a week, has a big dick and perfect ass, has a lot of money, wears designer labels, and lives in the perfect apartment in Chelsea. A typical straight might define a good gay as someone who is perfectly groomed and either provides the comic relief at a party or works in some sort of hairstylist equivelent service job- such as a florist or interior designer. (They like us to help design and style their weddings without actually having them ourselves.)
