Former Republican Rep. Bob Barr announced on Monday that he is running for President. This time around, Barr hopes to snag the Libertarian nomination.

Barr has hired Ross Perot's former campaign manager to head his bid.

"I've heard from Americans from all walks of life ... they want a choice," he said at a news conference in Washington. "They believe that America has more and better to offer than what the current political situation is serving up to us."

This could shake everything up. Bob Barr could hurt McCain since they're both basically moderate Republicans, and it could hurt the Democratic nominee since Barr would represent a call for change.

The Libertarians will pick their nominee on Memorial Day Weekend.

“In Hollywood,” Hayden Panettiere declares, “there is no such thing as being a nice girl. Or being, you know, not messed up. If you’re not, they’ll make you that way,” she says – “they” referring, of course, to the tabloid press.

Having spent, by her estimate, approximately seventeen of her eighteen-and-a-half years employed by the entertainment industry, the actress has had ample time to consider this theory. But it’s only in the past two years, ever since Heroes became a smash hit, that Hayden’s had to deal with the dilemma firsthand.

“Nothing is private,” she continues, “and when they write about you, it’s almost always completely false.”

Does that include her romance with Heroes co-star Milo Ventimiglia? Hayden refuses to confirm or deny their relationship. “I’ll not comment until the day I die! Denial,” she concludes, with a wide grin.

Hayden’s success – and the celebrity that goes along with it – does have its advantages. “The show put me in a place to speak for things that I’m passionate about,” she explains, citing animal rights as an example. Hayden believes that her work on behalf of whales and dolphins has significantly raised awareness of the cause. Animal welfare has always been Hayden’s cause of choice. “When I was younger, I’d always donate to the humane society,” she says. Hayden shares her home with her two dogs, Penny Lane and Madison and her cat Raleigh.

How did Hayden develop her signature sense of style? “I have the same sense of style that I did when I was growing up, but now I wear things that I might not have when I was younger, because I’m much more comfortable with my body. I’m definitely a jeans and tee shirt girl,” she confesses. “I dress down and comfy whenever I can, which makes dressing up more exciting.” Is there a certain look that she loves? “I really like to look polished. I love pencil skirts and flirty dresses – but I’m not picky when it comes to designers; I could find something great to wear from French Connection or Gucci,” she says. “I have a lot of fun dressing up and deciding what kind of look I want to go for depending on the event.”

What’s next for our favorite heroine? The girl who says she “used to lose out to actresses who had more of a ‘name’” is now working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood. She appears alongside Julia Roberts in the upcoming drama Fireflies in the Garden and spent her spring shooting director Chris Columbus’s I Love You, Beth Cooper, in which she plays the titular popular girl – another cheerleader, though she’s quick to note that the movie is “not about that” – who receives an unexpected, and very public declaration of love at her high school graduation. In addition to these roles, Hayden’s been using her Heroes downtime to record her debut album for Hollywood Records.

Who knew that the area where I grew up would be the center of a gay resort controversy? Actually, I probably did the whole time I grew up there living life in the closet.

Gary Foster was set to open a big gay camp ground outside Harriman, Tennessee until pressures from neighbors have caused him to consider closeting his idea.

Foster planned to open the Rosebud Lodge, an LGBT camp ground and resort for adults only. His original website featured gay couples holding hands and frolicking in the great outdoors. That evidently outraged the religious community and ruffled the feathers of the conservative local newspaper.

He now says posting all of the photos of same-sex couples on the site could have been a mistake, especially since the camp ground won't only for gays and lesbians. Foster says this was his way of letting the LGBT community that they would be welcomed at the Rosebud Lodge.

The closed minded rednecks in Roane County don't see it the same way.

"They've got a right to live just like we have, but this is a Bible Belt area," Roane County Commissioner Fred Tedder says. "People are gonna be upset about same sex marriages of men and women."

After repeated negative publicity, Foster released a statement on his website that he also mailed to the Roane County News accusing them of squashing his dream.

"Believe it or not, the GBLT Community is your neighbor. As for me, all of this has been a blessing, and I thank you all for the free advertisement. It has helped me to realize how needed and well attended such a resort would be in this area of the country," Foster writes.

"I have been camping everywhere over these many years, and have enjoyed talking with campers from all over the country, and in all walks of life. Many of whom have kids, or have had kids that are now grown, and this includes members of the GBLT community, who can be found in any Family Type Campground across this great country of ours.

In talking with these other campers, the one thing that seemed to come up most often was the lack of campgrounds that only adults could go to, and be by themselves. Thus, the idea for Rosebud Lodge was born. It would be a respectable and law abiding resort, which would cater to adult men and women only. And, a resort where any open minded, mature adult or couple would be welcomed; including the GLBT community, who are the most enjoyable and fun loving people that I have ever been around and had the pleasure to meet."

The local newspaper also evidently painted the resort as a nudist camp simply because it was targeted toward gays and lesbians. Foster says "this is far from the truth."

"No one will be allowed to run around all over the resort nude," he writes in his letter to the local media.

Ironically, that area in East Tennessee already has a nudist camp for "straight" people, but I guess that's okay- right? At least they're straight...

The Roane County commission can stop the resort, however. A rezoning hearing will take place on May 21st.

"People have a right to say whether they're for or against something like this, however we're not going to discriminate and we're going to follow what the law says," said Commissioner Chris Johnson. So, I guess everyone in Roane County isn't closed-minded and totally redneck.

Will Gary Fosters' dreams become a reality in Roane County? He addresses that on his website too.

"The good people of that county are trying to stop the Resort from going in. If they do, I will move the location of the Resort to another piece of property, which looks to be better than this one. It is much bigger and has a fishing lake, streams, caves, and waterfalls. I will keep you informed on this site."

Rumor has it there is a feud brewing on the set of "Gossip Girl," and the guys may just end up clawing each others' eyes out.

Ed Westwick, Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford are evidently in a battle over screen time and media attention, according to the New York Daily News.

"Penn was supposed to be the show's break-out star and now it is obviously Chace, and Penn doesn't like it," said one insider.

Penn is cute, but Chace just has that boy next door sex appeal.

The other guys are supposedly a bit upset that everyone goes overboard when it comes to Chace from bloggers and journalists to fellow actors.

Crawford was evidently the only cast member invited to George Clooney party despite the fact that the rest of the "Gossip Girl" guys were standing right there. Penn and Ed were also pushed aside as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes went gaga for Chace at the same Red Carpet event.

Who said a diva fight among the boys couldn't be good?!

I love politics, but I'm starting to get so sick of this election. Maybe it is because I want Hillary Clinton to be President, and it looks like the new members of the Democratic party don't agree with me.

I'm actually scared of living in a country run by Barack Obama. I have said it before, and I'll probably say it again: a lot of Obama's short comings remind me of the current President George Bush.

In one of his infamous speeches, Barack lost count of how many states are in the union.

“I’ve now been in 57 states, I think — one left to go,” Obama said. “Alaska and Hawaii I was not allowed to go to … my staff could not justify it,” he added after hearing laughter from the audience.

When someone else isn't write his words for him, Mr. Obama doesn't sound so smart - does he?

On the bright side, if Obama is elected President, we'll still get a lot of great late night talk show moments!

Everyone knows my Blackberry Curve is like my third arm, so it is only natural that I am going to fall in love with the new Blackberry Bold! I knew there was a reason I didn't fall in love with the iPhone!

This means faster downloading, streaming video or rendered web pages. You'll also be able to sync your Blackberry with iTunes, so you don't need a iPod anymore. Watch out iPhone! I feel like the biggest tech geek ever! BUT I WANT ONE!

I'm not the only one hooked on my crackberry, 14 million people wordlwide use RIM's BlackBerry and they plan to add another 2.2 million by the end of the next quarter.

The new Blackberry comes out this summer exclusively at AT&T (my favorite carrier!) It will run between $300 and $400.

Jenna Bush wore an Oscar de la Renta gown as she married Henry Hager at the Bush family ranch in Crawford, Texas.

Don't get me wrong, Jenna looked beautiful; but she looks too young to get married!

The wedding itself lacked all of that glam of a White House Rose Garden ceremony. It clearly wasn't too secretive since they released all of these photos. Afterall, George Bush needs a good ole family wedding to brighten up the last few months of his presidency.

I don't think Jenna's nuptials will be enough to raise Dubya's approval ratings, but it sure can't hurt to release a few photos... right?

No word yet on whether Jenna will take Hager's name. Rumor has it she and Henry are headed to Europe for their honeymoon. Way to boost the economy Jen....
