There’s a lot to be said about legends when it comes to the music industry. Most know when to call it quits and quietly fade away when their talent begins to go while others tend to hold on to make as much of a quick buck as possible. Seemingly harsh words at first but the latter is the vibe given off at DropOut, WiP’s Tuesday night bash at Greenhouse. Headline star? Debbie Harry!

“City Nights” – Off On the Road to Albany

Ever wonder what it’s like to be outside of the element of your own city? Hard to imagine for some but, New York City was dragging recently so why not get the fuck out of Dodge for a lovely weekend?  Besides, I’ve been planning on touring this column to other cities to see how they measure up to home. Albany (that bastard city upstate that makes a lot of political and economic decisions that we may all not agree with) was the city of choice for Saturday night. Isis Vermouth seems to hold some sort of trance over the gay nightlife up there so it was only fitting to attend her EGO Rocks Party.

I Heard… Nelson’s F*Word is Formika-less and XL’s success may be its downfall

I HEARD… that a horrible name and the inability for the promoters to fill a space as large as District 36 weren’t the only reasons for a short lived run of DMFAO.  I also HEARD… the success at XL might be the biggest downfall of the new nightclub at the OUT NYC Urban Resort. And that’s not all I HEARD in New York’s nightlife gossip mill this week.  Keep reading, because I’m not one to repeat gossip. So, you better listen close the first time!

West Hollywood Proclaims “NoH8 Day” December 13th!

They are images  that run rampant through our minds:  men and women, donning white t-shirts and having duct tape over their  mouths, while NOH8 is painted their cheeks.  The letters are black and the “8″ is in red.  The NOH8 campaign is turning three years old and will celebrate its anniversary of “raising awareness for the fight of human equality for all”  in West Hollywood, when Mayor John Duran will be on stage to proclaim December 13th NOH8 Day at the House of Blues.

The founders of the NOH8 campaign, Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley, will transform the House of Blues into a NOH8 Gallery, which will feature hundreds of the 18,000+ photos taken since 2008.  Bouska is “looking forward to gathering with NOH8 supporters from all walks of life, including special celebrity guest and performers.”  He adds that it is a “coming together to reflect the progress we’ve made and the work we have left to accomplish.”

Parshley believes ”there’s no better way we could think of to commemorate our mission than to create a gallery, here in West Hollywood, where the first NOH8 campaign photo was taken, and let these images speak for themselves.

The evening’s festivities will include Adam Bouska doing a special photo shoot with several of the celebrity guests, including Hue Hefner’s son, Cooper Hefner; former Celebrity Rehab cast member Mackenzie Phillips; blonde porn bombshell Jenna Jameson; country darling LeAnn Rimes; UFC fighter Tito Ortiz; and many more.

The doors to the House of Blues will open at 7pm and Red Carpet arrivals will commence from 8-9pm.  Photos will be taken on stage from 8:30-9:30 pm, which will be followed by live talent performances.  The lineup will include DMC of RUN DMC, Maya, and many other surprises during the night!

The funds raised during the NOH8 Day party will be used for promoting and raising awareness for marriage equality and anti-discrimination, something the NOH8 campaign has done since its inception.  Bravo Adam Bouska and Jeff Parshley!  Thank you for all you have done and Happy Anniversary!
