Music Monday: DJ Steve Sidewalk on Nicki Minaj, Kelly Clarkson and Chris Brown
1Nicki continues riding the pop dance wave with her new single from her upcoming album Roman Reloaded. A little premature to be dropping the song with her collaboration with David Guetta, ”Turn Me On” still doing well on the charts. It’s nice to hear her diversifying herself with singing and not just rapping. The song is another hit thanks to producer RedOne of Lady Gaga and JLO fame. However, I feel the best part of the song are the beats themselves and not so much her vocals. Also the “twinkle twinkle littler star” may just be one of those cheesy moments we look back in time and say, “did we really listen to this and not think it was ultra corny,” kind of how we feel about Vanilla Ice or MC Hammer now? Overall, the song is fun and definitely a dance floor hit!
“Stronger” – Kelly Clarkson (7th Heaven Remix)
The “Because of You” singer is back! Back at #1 for 2 weeks in a row and counting on the Billboard 100 Charts. 7th Heaven does a great job in making this into a dance floor anthem. The song was always good on its own but really needed that remix to add an extra kick to it. Many of the other remixes just don’t do the song justice, but 7th Heaven definitely gets it right, which is why this is my second review of the song!
“Turn Up the Music” – Chris Brown
Yes, Chris Brown is a total d-bag. And we can only hope the rumors of Rihanna and him getting back together are false. But this song is hot and sometimes you need to separate the artist from the music.
