Breaking News: Prop 8 Ruling on Tuesday
1GaySocialites.com has learned that the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will issue a ruling in the civil rights case Perry v. Brown on Tuesday by 10:00 am PST. The court decision will determine whether to uphold the 2010 decision of the Federal District Court that found Proposition 8 unconstitutional.
Proposition 8, was a ballot measure that stripped gay and lesbian couples in California of their right to marriage equality.
The historic decision could grant same sex couples the right to once again legally wed within in the state of California. On the flip side, it could also authenticate the ban on marriage as decided by voters who favored Proposition 8 by a slim margin.
GaySocialites.com will follow the Court of Appeals ruling throughout the day and provide you with up to the minute coverage including a live webcast of the press conference scheduled from 10:30am PST from Los Angeles and again at 5:00pm PST from San Francisco. We invite you back throughout the day for updates in this landmark federal civil rights case.
