The New York Police Department still doesn’t know who mailed more than 35 pounds of cocaine to the United Nations, and they don’t even know who was intended to receive the mail disguised as a diplomatic parcel.
Evidently, the large shipment of cocaine arrived at the U.N. on January 16th inside some hollowed out books that were in pouches similar to those used for diplomatic mail.
The actual pouch is blue and has a U.N. symbol, a lock and seal, and words like “Diplomatic Mail,” New York police spokesman Paul Brown said. “This bag was white instead of blue and had no locked seal and no wording of any kind.”\
Brown said all they know is that they packages seem to be sent from Mexico City. The NYPD doesn’t know who was supposed to get the large shipment of narcotics nor do they know who dropped them in the mail. An investigation is on-going.
The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is about $2million.
