Taylor Swift beats superstars like Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga for AMA Artist of the Year
The American Music Awards delivered some surprises on Sunday night including Taylor Swift's win over such big names as Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga for Artist of the Year.
I'm a huge Taylor Swift fan, so you know I'm tickled to death. However, I think even young Taylor knew that she shouldn't have beat the late-Michael Jackson for the AMA's top honor.
Swift accepted the award live from London. Much to my surprise, she forgot to thank Kanye West. Taylor wasn't on our radar until Kanye ruined her Video Music Award acceptance speech to declare that Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video the best of all time.
That was the best publicity Swift could have gotten. It really introduced her music to a lot of people (including myself!)
It was a big night for the country singers in all around categories. The little known group, Gloriana, also beat Lady Gaga for the AMA Breakthrough Artist award. Coincidentally, Gloriana opened for Taylor Swift during her tour this year.
Swift was nominated for six AMA awards, the only person who got more nods this year was Micaheal Jackson. She took home several AMA's including favorite female artist in the pop/rock and country categories, favorite adult-contemporary artist and favorite country album.

I still cannot believe that she beat Michael Jackson. I mean I love Taylor...but really?! And this whole Gloriana thing is even more bizarre.

Bee the only reason she's outselling superstars like Beyonce and Lady Gaga is because of her tween fan base who also vote for her like crazy for these type of awards. She doesn't deserve them. Didn't deserve the VMA either.

Kanye should thank Taylor for keeping his name out there..I didn't know he existed before Taylor mentioned him long before the VMAs because she liked his music. The same goes for tons of other people in my demographic. If he hadn't misjudged her popularity and did what he did, many would not have known who he was and many that did would have forgotten him. She'd sold more records the past 2 years than he did and her popularity was much greater.

I am so much more than shocked about this whole Taylor Swift thing!..I think the girl is good but there is NOOOOO WAY she could of beat Lady Gaga, she is much more of an icon and such a true talent and star. How Lady Gaga didn't win breakthrough artist either just makes me wonder who the hell was running the AMAs! I just think it's sad that they didn't honor this years music queen. But the AMAs don't mean anything, that's probably the most unimportant award show of the year. Just wait til the Grammy's, we all know Lady Gaga will get the honor she deserves!

Taylor is DISGUSTING. Sorry for the biased comments but c'mon. Taylor is not at all talented, and not even as close to being on top of her game in the music world, like Lady Gaga and Michael Jackson. It's all a conspiracy, really. Taylor S won everything, and even GLoriana, who no one has ever heard of, won because because of their affiliation with Taylor. She's just another stupid Disney princess with eight year old fans, and once they get older and hit puberty she's gonna have no one. Team Lady Gaga!
