Charity is the act of promoting “good” amongst the public. Organizations raise money, offer housing, share advice, and maintain lives with the help of thousands of volunteers and charitable donations.
In a world like New York City’s nightlife, charity is not something that is common. Often, I see so many entertainers, including myself, who are quick to get paid, fly out the door, in a hedonistic panic. Where does that money go? Maybe you’re saving up for your new laptop? Maybe you just need cab fair to get to the Upper West Side? Need to score a bag – sure I have disposable income. In a world of sex, drugs, and performance, there are a few standout individuals who go above and beyond their nightlife ‘character’ to help their community. This Friday, nightlife superstars will join together to support The Trevor Project. If you’re not familiar, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization focused on crisis and suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.
If you're gay and a voter in Atlanta, you're ass is probably getting kissed by both candidates for Mayor in the upcoming run-off election.
Former state Senator Kasim Reed has rehashing his accomplishments for the gay community including a hate crime bill.
Councilwoman Mary Norwood (pictured here) evidently attended an Anti-Prop 8 rally and her website even displays a gay flag.
"I cannot recall a mayor's race when there's been so much attention placed on the gay and lesbian vote," said Jeff Graham, executive director of Georgia Equality, the state's largest gay rights group.
According to the LA Times, the gay vote has been a coveted political prize for some time in Atlanta.

NIGHTLIFE RUMOR CONTROL
Rumors are flying after Adam Lambert showed up at risque East Village sleeze bar, The Box, over the weekend. The story evidently unfolded on Twitter when cross-dressing performer, Trick, tweeted that he had urinated on the American Idol runner-up.
I guess that takes care of our rumor. A cross-dresser named Trick did actually piss on Adam Lambert at The Box in Manhattan.
According to eye-witnesses, Lambert's initial reaction wasn't good. However, he evidently loosened up after someone told him it was all a gag.
Do you think they lied to him so he didn't queen out right there in the middle of The Box? I've never been there, and this is why! One night King Ralphy, Jane Leahy and others tried to drag me there. I wasn't having it! We've all heard the story about the midgets at The Box who made "Two Girls and a Cup" look like an after school special.
Adam was evidently with his mother and DJ Brad Walsh (who is supposed to be dating Project Runway winner Christian Siriano). I'm sorry Lambert got pissed on, but we might have a digger here! We'll stay on top of it.
MUSIC MONDAY
Here it is! This is Adam Lambert's debut music video "For Your Entertainment". Everyone is talking about Lambert these days, but not because his album is great. Adam is making headlines over a controversial performance at the American Music Awards.
On Friday, he showed up on The CBS Early Show where he talked about being a sexual person and performed two songs.
Lambert loves to over-sing songs doesn't he?! It wasn't so bad on American Idol, but as a professional it's starting to get annoying.

TRAVEL
I just returned from my whirlwind, jet setting adventure in Scandinavia; and the former Baltic region of Russia. I've been about 10 times (go figure, I'm huge there!), and this time was the best.
I went to perform for a dear friend, Mega Paula, the reigning drag queen of Finland. It was her 30 year anniversary. The party was amazing and packed! It rained a lot and was dark 22 hours a day, but as a she-male vampire I didn't mind.
Then I went to Tallinn, Estonia to do a show in Angel Club. It's an absolutely beautiful city. In the oldest Medieval City in N. Europe, the people are soooo nice and gorgeous! The show was packed and people knew the words to my 4 Minutes parody from the video, so that was hysterical. If I need to go to Estonia to feel like a rock star, then so be it!
Then I was back in Helsinki for a final show in Hercules. Again, it was packed and a blast! I now have dear, great friends there. They all speak English, so they get my stupid jokes! I was traveling with another NYC performer, Dorothy Bishop. If you don't know her find her - she's GENIUS!
GLAMMY AWARDS
One week from today, the 11th Annual Glammy Awards will recognize the best in nightlife. Over the past eleven years, the Glammy's have become a well renowned awards ceremony honoring everyone from drag queens and musicians to nightclub promoters and bloggers.
You might think that such a large production has to be planned by a huge corporation or a gaggle of committees, however that isn't the case. The woman behind the organization that honors others has a tendency to stay in the shadows herself. GaySocialites.com wants to give you the chance to get to know the woman behind the Glammy's, so we grabbed a valuable moment of Cherry Jubilee's very busy day!
So how did the Glammy Awards get to where they are today? Cherry shared the story of her journey with GaySocialites.com.
In 1997, Cherry Jubilee burst onto the New York nightlife scene; and says she was "in awe of the talent of drag legends like Joey Arias, Raven O, Jackie Beat, Sherry Vine and Candis Cayne." As she began to understand the hard work that goes into nightclub performances, Cherry says she "wondered if there was any ceremony that honored such talent."
As it turns out there was not. As a new face to the scene, she decided to talk it up and see how the industry felt about an awards show. "The overwhelming response was 'It's a great idea! Take it and go with it,'" Cherry remembers.
The awards have come a long way since their start at Barracuda in 1997.
"It was an intimate venue, so I felt if it was a flop and not many people showed, it wouldn't be that bad," Cherry told GaySocialites.com. The whole program was, of course, a success.
Cherry describes the night the Glammy's came to life: "The place was packed with all the biggest an most legendary drag divas like Mona Foot, Girlina, Varla Jean Merman, Lady Bunny... and they all looked so glamorous ...dressed to the nine's."
To no one's surprise, the Glammy's quickly outgrew Barracuda to eventually take the main stage at Webster Hall before later landing at Splash.
So what does Cherry get out of the Glammys? "The incredibly good feeling in the room," she says. "One of happiness and camaraderie among everyone on GLAMMY night. Everyone seems truly excited and that feeling is electric. At some point in the evening I stop running around for just a moment, step back and look at all the amazing people and positive energy...and that makes it all the hard work worth it!" You don't find many people like that!
The 2009 Glammy Awards will be handed out at Splash in NYC at 9pm on Sunday, December 5th.

If you cock-loving AID’s Peddlers missed the AMA’s this past week, a no talent faggot named Adam Lambert caused quite a stir on stage. The outrage wasn’t due to the fact that he can’t sing an on-pitch note to save our Savior’s life, nor that his vocals sounded as if someone put a microphone in the sacred ovens of Auschwitz. The real outrage was his blatant disregard for Morality! However, I am pleased to announce that some good did come out of it: they banned him from performing on Good Morning America the next day. Fantastic I say! That pillow biter should not be allowed near that wonderful Diane Sawyer. But the thing that kills me is how people are actually OUTRAGED that Adam FAGbert‘s performance was denied! How dare you defend this type of performance, as if what he did was socially important! He and his homo friends are trying to push the gay agenda onto the youth of our country. They say its okay to be gay… well, then I say its okay for these faggots to die of aids and get beat (repeatedly) for their lifestyles. First Good Morning America, that nationwide, unholy marriage! I THINK NOT.

ESPN.com is reporting that golfer Tiger Woods was in a car accident on Friday near his home in Florida but was released later in the day.
Woods evidently wrecked his 2009 Cadillac sport utility vehicle at around 2:30 in the morning. No one else was in the vehicle. He evidently pulled out of his driveway and hit a fire hydrant and a tree. Maybe he was in a hurry to get to Wal-Mart for the Black Friday sales?
Original reports showed Woods in serious condition, but according to his representative the injuriries were deemed 'minor'. The rep also says Woods has already been released from the hospital.

Adam Lambert is working the talk circuit rounds to promote his new album, "For Your Entertainment". After his mindblowing performance during last Sunday's Video Music Awards, Lambert is getting tons of free publicity.
In a Kathy Griffin-sort-of-way, Lambert has been banned from ABC's daytime television. Thus, CBS picked it up and his hoping for a ratings bonanza on their bore-fest, The Early Show.
Just a few interesting facts, CBS chose to blur Adam kissing what evidently is an androgynous boy during his AMA performance; but they didn't put the fuzzies on Britney, Madonna and Christina's infamous kiss. Here's why, or so they say:
"We gave this some real thought. The Madonna image is very familiar and has appeared countless times including many times on morning television. The Adam Lambert image is a subject of great current controversy, has not been nearly as widely disseminated, and for all we know, may still lead to legal consequences."

Puerto Rico is evidently set to investigate Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado's murder as a hate crime.
After rallies across the country, a call for attorney General Eric Holder to get involved and a meeting with local representatives of the American Civil Liberties Union; authorities say they will proceed with a look into whether this brutal murder was committed simple because Mercado was gay.
"The ACLU has tried to get the government to accept its responsibility to investigate cases... that are hate crimes, particularly that of young Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado," said ACLU director William Ramírez. "We should not be satisfied with the possibility the federal government will do what our government is not interested in doing; which is to protect every citizen."
Cries are also coming from around the country against investigator Angel Rodriguez Colon, who said Mercado contributed to his own death simply because he was gay.
NIGHTLIFE
The oldest gay bar west of the Mississippi closed its doors this year, and now the local Fox affiliate is taking a look back at why people liked the "Rainbow Room" or "RC Lounge" so much.
Bartender Rose Carrier, who took the job thinking gay meant happy, takes us behind the scenes.
"They would come through the back door, and they would leave through the back door," said Rose. While I'm sure she didn't mean to use such a pun, she describes the inside the Rainbow Room as the happiest place on earth.
Outside was a bit differnent, she said. Carrier also talks about how miserable the area homophobes and local police made it for the gays who just wanted to have a good time. The RC Lounge closed their doors in August.
Here's another reason why I love "CBS Evening News" anchor and managing editor, Katie Couric. The lady can evidently bust a move, and in today's "Facebook-age" nothing is private.
These photos of Couric celebrating her new gig a few years ago have hit the web via her daughter's Facebook page.
In a photo album titled, "Four Martini Minimum," Couric daughter posted these pictures of Katie from 2006 while she partied at the Hudson hotel following the announcement of her as the new boss over the "CBS Evening News.
Katie had reason to celebrate. When she moved to CBS News, Couric became the first woman ever to serve as the solo anchor of an evening news cast.
Donny Osmond was crowned the winner on Tuesday night's "Dancing with the Stars" finale after a hard earned battle against Mya and Kelly Osbourne.
Going into Tuesday night's show, Mya was at the head of the leader board and considered the favorite to win. However, after the judges score was added to the popular vote, Osbourne pushed Mya back to second place leaving Osbourne to take third.
Osbourne is the 10th person to win the coveted "Dancing with the Stars" championship. Kelly Monaco, Drew Lachey, Emmitt Smith, Apolo Anton Ohno, Helio Castroneves, Shawn Johnson, Brooke Burke, and Kristi Yamaguchi have also taken home the mirror ball trophy.
CHARLES ON
The holiday season has a different meaning for everyone, but over all giving and receiving would probably be the central themes.
My friends and family are wonderful, so I can honestly say that I get more gifts each year than I could possibly deserve. I also think I do a pretty decent job at finding the perfect gifts for those on my list as well.
This year, however, I plan to focus more on giving back to the community and those who need it most.
There are tons of ways to get involved during the holiday season. You could volunteer at a food bank, buy a gift for an underprivileged child or possibly attend a benefit or charity event. The options are nearly endless.

Some folks are pissed after a racist photo of First Lady Michelle Obama popped up in the Google Image search.
The photo, which evidently features the First Lady with monkey like features, won't be removed though.
Google says the images in their search are chosen with "algorithms using thousands of factors to calculate a page's relevance to a given query," and had nothing to do with the "beliefs and preferences of Google employees and the general public."
So will the offensive photo of Mrs. Obama be removed? The answer is no.
The Google ad explains: "Accordingly, we do not remove a page from our search results simply because its content is unpopular or because we receive complaints concerning it," the disclaimer says. "We will, however, remove pages from our results if we believe the page (or its site) violates our webmaster guidelines, if we believe we are required to do so by law, or at the request of the webmaster who is responsible for the page."
Google delivered the news through an ad on their network titled, "Sometimes our search results can be offensive." Duh. "We assure you that the views expressed by such sites are not in any way endorsed by Google," the ad explained.

We may not get any full frontal shots out of Levi Johnston's Playgirl pictorial, but GaySocialites.com caught up with the man who designed the shoot and got a glimpse of the goods.
Playgirl's artistic director, Daniel Nardicio tells GaySocialites.com exclusively that Levi has a lot to be proud of down there.
"He's hung!" exclaimed Nardicio.
So if Levi is so gifted below the belt, why didn't the 19-year-old stud show it off?
"He didn't show it cause he's got a custody battle coming," Nardicio explains.
I guess that's a good point. Johnston will likely have to battle former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and his baby's mother, Bristol, for custody over their baby son.

On Sunday, New Yorkers gathered in the West Village for a candle light vigil in memory of Jorge Steven Lopez Mercado, the teenage boy in Puerto Rico who was brutally murdered because he was gay.
Puerto Rico has never tried a person for a hate crime against a member of the LGBTQ community, and people across the world are calling for this to be the first time.
Christine Quinn, the openly gay Speaker of the New York City Council, spoke to those who gathered at Pier 45 reminding them that justice must be served against those who discriminate against someone based on their sexual orientation.
We've been talking about the release of Levi Johnston's Playgirl photos like school girls waiting for prom. Over the weekend, I got to see the pictures. Unless Playgirl is holding out on something, I'm not hugely impressed. Still, however, it something you won't want to miss when Playgirl.com officially releases the photos in January.
There were a few butt shots in the lot of photos that I saw, but that's about it. I didn't see even a peak at Levi's 'Johnston'.
Playgirl released a few photos of Levi over the weekend cropped from the waist up. I think he looked a little gay in those, but the others seem to be a little more rugged.
In most of the shots that I saw, Levi is standing in a shower playing in the water. There was some talk of a hockey stick, but I didn't see that.
And I know you're wondering about the butt. Yeh, it's pretty cute. I expected Levi to be a little more buff, but he has warned us that he isn't in the shape that he wanted to be for the shoot. I guess he wasn't lying.

Adam Lambert's performance at Sunday night's American Music Awards sealed the deal... this guy is confused!
Lambert is all over the place in life, and lets just say this performance emulated life! Not only did the American Idol runner-up over-sing his first live national television since losing Fox's singing competition to cutie Kris Allen, he also confused the hell out of everyone.
From making out with girls [or trannies or how ever that keyboardist identifies him or herself] to rubbing a male back-up dancers' face in his crotch, Lambert seemed a bit confused with not only who he is but what his style represents. Some say its the label, but Lambert is taking credit for it all himself.

The American Music Awards delivered some surprises on Sunday night including Taylor Swift's win over such big names as Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga for Artist of the Year.
I'm a huge Taylor Swift fan, so you know I'm tickled to death. However, I think even young Taylor knew that she shouldn't have beat the late-Michael Jackson for the AMA's top honor.
Swift accepted the award live from London. Much to my surprise, she forgot to thank Kanye West. Taylor wasn't on our radar until Kanye ruined her Video Music Award acceptance speech to declare that Beyonce's "Single Ladies" video the best of all time.
That was the best publicity Swift could have gotten. It really introduced her music to a lot of people (including myself!)
It was a big night for the country singers in all around categories. The little known group, Gloriana, also beat Lady Gaga for the AMA Breakthrough Artist award. Coincidentally, Gloriana opened for Taylor Swift during her tour this year.
Swift was nominated for six AMA awards, the only person who got more nods this year was Micaheal Jackson. She took home several AMA's including favorite female artist in the pop/rock and country categories, favorite adult-contemporary artist and favorite country album.

After a botched deal on a Fire Island night club and a horrific attempted buy-out at a another club in Manhattan, a elderly man who loves young boys and his "straight" business partner are now most known for their sour deals with gay clubs!
To beat it all, their flagship venue uptown has been under construction since the day it opened (or so it seems).

We're normally reporting on gay porn pasts, but on Bravo's upcoming Chef Academy, one contestant fesses up to having a straight porn past.
Emmanuel Delcour (or as his adult movie fans call him, Jean Valjean) was evidently a very successful porn star before he became a student on Bravo's Chef Academy, a show that teaches non-chefs how to cook and compete.

Oprah Winfrey said good-bye to The Oprah Winfrey Show on Friday despite the fact that she has another year two years on the job.
Her eyes filled with tears as Oprah announced she won't renew her talk show.
While you would have thought that the show was ending immediately, Oprah can emotional if she wants! As a pioneer for television talk, Oprah has paved the path for such names as Ellen Degenres, Rachel Ray and even the women of The View.
As we told you earlier, this won't be the end of Oprah. She'll continue projects with her television network.
Nelson and Formika stood in front of the hopefuls and gave them a pep talk, asking them to think of this party as everyone's party. "This isn't a Chelsea party, this isn't a latino party, this is for everyone. We want you to have as much fun and be as successful as possible, but we're a team," Nelson told the crowd.

It looks like some gay-on-gay hate is brewing between American Idol loser Adam Lambert and Out magazine editor Aaron Hicklin.
Lambert is evidently not happy that people have been questioning his image. Many media outlets believe that Lambert isn't asking as gay as expected, and they're blaming his record label.
In the recent Out 100 edition, Hicklin wrote that Lambert's people refused to let him on the cover unless there were some straight people on there too as to not make Adam look "gay, gay."
Then Adam took a blow at Hicklin via Twitter saying,
"Dear Aaron, it's def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine. U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine. Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications' agenda onto my career."
Then Lambert told Entertainment Weekly,
"What people don’t realize is, I am managing my image, more than maybe the editor of OUT magazine likes to give anybody credit for. My team is a team. And I really feel fortunate that 19 Management and Simon Fuller said to me, from the get-go, “We want to do what you want to do. The gays (and a few girls, I'm sure) are counting down the days until we get to see Levi Johnston in the buff for Playgirl. Despite rumors that Levi showed his full 'Johnston', we might be a bit disappointed when the photos hit the web. Evidently Levi never planned to go full monte.

Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair are stepping back in the ring this weekend (no, it isn't 1984); and the two broke out in a fight while promoting the show in Australia. That's typical wrestling, but Hogan's camp claims the fight between the two geriatrics was legit.
Hogan suffered a terrible blow to the head and blood gushed everywhere when Flair attacked him. Sounds like typical wrestling, huh?
Well, TMZ is reporting that the entire fight, including Hogan's injuries, were legit. Did Rick Flair get out of control or is this just stunt to promote a career for these two would-be retirees? Either way, it will definitely make for a good fight this weekend!

The new face of transgender, Chaz Bono, is making the media rounds to help clear up any confusion about his recent sex change. Today he spoke with Good Morning America.
Bono, born as the daughter of Sonny and Cher, is currently undergoing a sex change from a female to male.
So are women who feel like they are born in men's bodies really lesbians?
"A lot of female-to-male transgender people end up doing a stint in the lesbian community because it just kind of makes sense," Bono explained. "At 13, 14, I was real clear at that point that I was attracted to women. So I was like, 'I'm attracted to women, I am a woman, I guess I'm a lesbian.' … That's the simple answer."
Bono said he is dedicated to fighting for trans-inclusive legislation. Having always been an LGBT activist, Chaz says he'll just be focusing on the T a bit more now.

NEWS OF THE WEIRD
Cops in Hoboken, New Jersey got a surprise on Wednesday afternoon when someone called to report that a dog was on their roof. We're not talking about a small dog here either. This guy was a Husky.
The dog, whose name is Sebastian, had been at doggie daycare and wanted to make his way back to the fun.
"Clearly he is having such a good time at Unleashed he is now trying to escape to get back there,"
the dog's owner, Phil Kennewell, joked on the Hoboken Unleashed Facebook Fan page.
Kennewell went on to say that Sebastian "is now curled up on the sofa looking very sorry for himself."
The dog evidently jumped out of a higher window and landed on the building's garage.
Alexandra Forbes Kerry, the oldest daughter of Senator John Kerry, was evidently arrested early Thursday morning for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Cops say She was given a field sobriety test and taken to jail.
"She was arrested for driving under the influence," confirmed Officer Sara Faden. "She bailed out on $5,000 and was released at 5:25 a.m."
TMZ reported that Kerry refused to take a breathalyzer test.
John Kerry and his family made their way to spotlight when he ran for President in 2004.
THURSDAY NIGHT ON TELEVISION
Thursday night on Bravo, Jeana Keough says good-bye to The Real Housewives of Orange County.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the housewives, Jeanna's the one who provided the eye candy via her beautiful children.
Like many people across the country, the housewives seem to have been hit pretty hard by the economy. Jeanna, a real estate agent, has evidently taken the hardest blow. She hasn't given that as a reason for leaving the show, but it has put a wedge in her friendship with Vicki. Will there be tension between these two former besties on Jeanna's final episode?
Meanwhile, Gretchen and Slade’s relationship is heating up fast, but when they come face-to-face with Tamra for the first time since the blow-up at Lynne’s dinner, will tensions flare again and ruin everyone’s evening?
We can always hope, can't we? "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" airs Thursday night at 10/9c on Bravo.

A simple city ordinance that would allow a doggie daycare to relocate in Hoboken, NJ has failed to pass through the city council. It may seem like the Hoboken City Council hates dogs, but as it turns out - these childish politicians just hate one another.
The vote that would have allowed Hoboken Unleashed to move just a few blocks away failed at a city council meeting this week in what appears to be a struggle for political power.
The new Mayor, Dawn Zimmer, seems to be feeling the heat from her former opponent who also sits on the city council. Beth Mason (pictured here looking super drowsy) seems to have basically put the council on gridlock by stacking her allies against Zimmer to make a big deal out of issues that should easily pass.
As a result, legislation that needs to pass will likely be haulted by shady politics. This measure, for example, has already passed once yet it failed last night.
If you live in Hoboken, please take a moment to call your representative on the City Council. Please ask them to allow the dogs to have a place to play and vote in favor of the ordinance allowing Hoboken Unleashed to move to a new home.
WE TOLD YOU SO...
It may appear that American Idol runner-up, Adam Lambert, is struggling with his sexuality as he prepares to drop his debut album. A few weeks ago, we asked "Who is trying to straighten Adam Lambert up?" The newest issue of Out Magazine answers my question.
If you believe what they say at Out, it is the record label who is trying to prevent Lambert from coming across as too gay.
Out Editor Aaron Hicklin writes that Lambert was “the real winner for those of us who saw your success as a test of America’s growing tolerance … it’s unfortunate, therefore, that your record label and management don’t share the same view."
Commenters here at GaySocialites.com beat me up for claiming that someone wanted Adam to seem less gay. Whether we want to recognize it or not, Lambert is not being as openly gay as he'd like. Back in those days, he dressed in drag and wore make-up.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT ON TELEVISION
There are only five chef'testants left on "Top Chef", and this week the pressure causes things to get a little heated in the kitchen.
The finals are almost here, so there is a lot at stake as the contestants must take a classically difficult dish involving many different proteins in one. I'm already confused?!@! I guess we'll have to see it to understand it.
Notable chef Thomas Keller serves a guest judge, and you'll have to watch what happens when Tom throws them a curve ball.
"Top Chef: Las Vegas" airs Wednesday nights at 10/9c on Bravo.
People Magazine has crowned Johnny Depp as the Sexiest Man Alive in 2009. This is Depp's second time to pick up the honors. His first win was in 2003.
"Johnny Depp was someone who was sexy 10 years ago. He'll be sexy 10 years from now. He's someone who appeals to multiple generations of women," said People's senior editor, Kate Coyne.
Hugh Jackman (last year's winner), Zac Efron, John Legend, Robert Pattinson and David Beckham also made the list - just to name a few.
People's "Sexiest Man Alive" issue is on newsstands this week.
Lady Gaga will re-release her debut album The Fame in three different versions. One of the 3 versions includes a picture book, while the other version is a double disc which will include the debut album. One version will be released with just the new tracks. Standard and Deluxe editions of The Fame Monster will be released on November 23, 2009. The collector's edition super-deluxe version will be released on December 15, 2009.
Gaga says: “In the midst of my creative journey composing 'The Fame Monster', there came an exciting revelation that this was in fact my sophomore album. I would not add, nor take away any songs from this EP, it is a complete conceptual and musical body of work that can stand on its own two feet. It doesn't need 'The Fame'."

People across the globe are reacting to what seems to be a hate crime that took place in Puerto Rico causing one teenager to lose his life.
The body of 19-year-old George Lopez Mercado was found by the side of the road in Cayey, a city near his hometown of Caguas, Puerto Rico. Cops have arrested Juan Antonio Martínez Matos for the murder. Matos evidently told cops that he killed Mercado out of fear and panic when he found out he was having sex with another man. The murderer evidently thought his victim was a female prostitute, not a gay man.
Mercado was practically mutulated. Matos not only burned him, but he also appears to have been decapitated with his limbs removed from his torso.
The case is evidently being treated as a hate crime, but it might be hard when even homophobic cops are justifying the killer's action.n The police office investigating the case insinuated that the young man deserved to die because of the “type of lifestyle” he was leading.
Gay rights groups are calling for the FBI to get involved. New Yorkers are planning a rally and candle light vigil on Sunday in Lower Manhattan at 7pm.
LGBT activists say Puerto Rico has never classified the murder of a gay man as a hate crime.
CHARLES ON...
In today's web driven world, it is simple for everyone to start feeling a little bit famous every now and again. As more people become web savvy, everyone seems to be popping up on the web. With a few clicks of a mouse, you can be gathering friends and producing your webisodes. After a few people show interest in your work, your head starts to swell. The problem is that you're not as famous as you think you are.
While having hundreds of "followers" on Twitter should boost anyone's self confidence at least a little, but writing clever statements in 140 characters or less isn't going to put you in the history books. Keep in mind, you're not as famous as you think you are.
Social networking sites likes YouTube, Facebook and MySpace can make anyone feel like a superstar. Some of their users even claim to be celebrities simply due to their online network. These folks often spend a lot of time recording new videos, tagging photos, blogging and posting bulletins for their web friends. The problem is that these dilusionoids really seem to think they're raising the bar. If you fit into this category, I hate to break the news to you - you're not a celebrity. Not even a little bit. Oh, and you're not as famous as you think you are.
Even though you can get followers on Twitter, fans of Facebook and stalkers on MySpace, it certainly isn't fame with easy fortune. In all reality, very few people are going to rise to fame through social networking. So maybe you should just get a real job, because you're not as famous as you think you are!
If you see me out and about, help keep me in check too. Don't be afraid to lean over and whisper, "you're not as famous as you think you are!"

The former staff at the Washington Blade reported back to the old building where their offices once were to try and resurrect the gay weekly that was closed Monday when Window Media decided to deck out of the gay print business.
Former Blade editor Kevin Naff and his staff (now working pro bono) met at a coffee shop in the lobby this morning trying to come up with a plan to press forward. Naff still handed out assignments and sent his reporters on their way to gather the gay news. The only problem is that they don't know how they're going to pay for it, distribute it or even what they'll call it.
"It could be a four-page Kinko's job, it could be an eight-page professionally printed paper, we're still figuring it out," Naff said. "It's to let people know we're still here, and still reporting the news."
As an online magazine, our team here has to wonder if they're beating a dead horse. As more and more people begin to rely on the web, it might be logical for the Blade to take their show online.
Last night at Barracuda in Manhattan, during the Sherry Vine Show, David Serrano let me preview his new 'pop art' collection featuring such celebrities as Madonna, Janet Jackson, Kylie Minogue and Lady Gaga.
Serrano, who is eager to get his images onto canvas, is planning to release his work soon. David said he planned on transforming several New York nightlife personalities into 'pop art' masterpieces as well.
Does this mean Acid Betty is going to be hanging on my wall as a pop-art icon? Thanks to David Serrano, you know it.

NIGHTLIFE
There has been a lot of buzz around New York City's twinkie club, Rush. Earlier this year, managing partner Dave Beatty announced that he would be joined by the management at the Ritz to re-work the concept and revamp Rush.
When Jimmy and Tommy, the duo behind the Ritz, came in and tried to apply their 20-something formula to a space that is renowned (or cursed) as being the place for college gays to go.
In a joint statement with Beatty, the Ritz management announced that Rush would go out of business effective on October 31st. We assume their strategy was to close up shop and not only give the space a facelift but also adopt a new name and concept.
As Halloween neared, Beatty seemed to have second thoughts about allowing his new business partners to remove one of the only New York club gay clubs that allows college kids who aren't yet 21 years old. That's where the power struggle ensued. Meanwhile rumors started that Beatty was meeting with other investors with hopes of edging his new partners out. It seems to have worked!
For now, at least, it looks like Beatty has control of things. Despite the fact that Tommy and Jimmy told Alan Picus to take his 'boiparty' and go, Dave asked Picus to stay and has offered a three hour open bar every week since Halloween.
An inside source who spoke exclusively to GaySocialites.com says that Tommy, Jimmy and the Ritz are no longer associated with Rush and have not gone through with the shares they planned to purchase.
Rush will evidently remain opened until at least the beginning of 2010 at which time, we're told, they'll close briefly for extensive renovations.

It looks like HX is making a comeback, of sorts, online. I couldn't help but notice on Monday night that the HX website is no longer redirected to the Next Website. Both magazines cover local gay news, entertainment and gossip in New York City, but each represented themselves very differently online.
A few weeks after HX Media announced that they had sold HX Magazine and HX.com, their website started automatically directing visitors to the Next Magazine website. That doesn't seem to be the case anymore.
The HX Magazine archives seem to in tact at HX.com including the final edition with Sacha Baron Cohen (in character as Bruno) on the cover. HX Magazine operated their website more like a blog that included bonus information not found in the print version. HX was all over the place and generally had the scoop on nightlife happenings.
Next Magazine basically offers an online version of what they offer in print. For now, that seems to remain the same. After HX Magazine folded, Next adopted their layout and even re-vamped their nightlife coverage to include more pictures. They even hired HX Magazine's editor, Dan Avery, as their Associate Editor who handles most of the nightlife lists and scoop.
Amidst all of the Next Magazine banners at HX.com lies the following an ad that reads, "HX.com coming soon under new ownership and management. Stay tuned."
What the hell is going on over there and why didn't anyone tell me what was happening? I kid. Ok, I'm a little serious, but definitely in suspense! Will Next be the magazine while HX.com acts as the blog? Has Next loaded HX.com off on someone else? I guess only time will tell.
Levi Johnston's photo shoot for Playgirl is done, and the pictures will evidently be available online early next year.
Yes, we all have to wait until January to see the full Johnston; but it seems that the shoot went well.
As a would've-been Palin in-law, Levi and his mangers/bodyguard/publicist Tank Johnson are both bragging about the shoot calling it "fantastic!"
While in New York for his Playgirl shoot, Levi sat down with the CBS Early Show for this interview:
He isn't the most well-spoken fella, but he's country. I, for one, can't wait to see Levi in the buff. Our good friend, Daniel Nardicio, served as artistic director. Some shoots evidently also involved a hockey stick. Prrrrrrrrr
My favorite part of the interview above is when Levi talks about all of the cougar prisoners hitting on him while he visits his mother in jail. Classy.
It's a good thing we all just want to see Johnston naked. Who care whether or not he can hold a conversation?!
Palin, the person who dragged Levi into the spotlight, released a statement trying to fight off any negative comments that Johnston has made about her and her family. CBS read a part of the statement and stressed that they have invited Palin on their show several times.
Remember what happened the last time Sarah Palin went to CBS? Katie Couric kicked her ass!

The woman behind nightlife's Glammy Awards, Cherry Jubilee, announced on her Facebook page that November 20th will be the final day to submit your Glammy ballot if you were extended the opportunity to vote.
It's like being a part of an academy or something. I love it and fell honored to be included. If you think you should have received a ballot and didn't, you can always plead your case to Cherry via her Facebook page.
As you probably already know, I've been nominated for Best Blogger/ Writer. I've even begged for your vote.
Today, I got a little teary eyed as I thought about that list of Glammy nominees in my category.
Last year's winner, Lady Bunny (even though I give her a hard time), is an amazing and talented person. As a DJ and world renowned drag queen, I don't know where she finds time to keep up such an amazing blog. I actually read it on a regular basis, and it generally makes my day a whole lot more interesting).
Michael Musto (even though he thinks I'm ugly and that my "face could stop a horse in its tracks and make it melt into glue") is a legend in his own time. Michael Musto was gay before gay was cool, and now he's one of the coolest kids on the block. I can't thank Musto enough for the free publicity. If I wouldn't have publicly feuded with Lily Allen this could have been what put my name in the headlines. Instead it got me crammed at the end of an unrelated article. I don't give a shit what you say about me, as long as you're talking about me. Oh, and it's my move - right Musto? 
Moving right along... Perez Hilton is also nominated in my category and, well, is only one of the biggest and most well known bloggers in the world. Need I say more or even need to provide a link? What the hell, here ya go! There is also another admirable gossip blogger nominated this year, Michael K at Dlisted.com. He isn't afraid to say what he's thinking, and you have to admire that!
Linda Simpson also got a Glammy nod this year. Simpson offers up hilarity on the online magazine, mycomrade.com, putting her in a category of her own. Wigs off to Miz Simpson! Please keep us in the nightlife know!

Some chubby gay guy in the UK is floating on cloud nine after he evidently gave Prince Harry a beer in exchange for a kiss (on the cheek).
What?! Things like this don't happen to me, but card carrying homo Rocky Bennett claims it happened to him.
Rocky's story goes like this: "I went up to him and told him I would love to buy him a drink - if he gave me a kiss, Harry just burst out laughing, threw his arms around me and kissed me on the left cheek."
Like Harry can't afford his own brew.
Against his better judgment, Bennett added, "I'm not going to wash my face for a month now!"
I would advise against that, Rocky. The only thing you seem to have going for you right now are the residuals of royal spit. Maybe a diet and some extra face washing might be in order. You can see the butt ugly fag Rocky's lovely mug on the News of the World website.

And another one bites the dust. The Washington Blade delivered the news on Monday morning via Twitter.
"Washington Blade, like all Window Media publications, is closing today. Thank you for your support." The message went on to ask followers to "Keep following us for developments." Why would they say that?
Politico is reporting that Washington Blade staff is going to try and resurrect the paper or create a spin-off. The staffers are evidently meeting tomorrow to discuss their options.
This latest blow to gay print media will close several gay publications including the Washington Blade, Atlanta’s Southern Voice paper and David magazine as well as the the South Florida Blade. The company fell into receivership when they failed to pay their government bailout back.
This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. Many gay publications have collapsed over the past year including big names like Genre and HX Magazine.
The worst part about it was how the douche bag management notified their staff. They posted a note on the door telling them to come back later for their stuff. Shady, shady, shady!
Lou Dobbs abruptly resigned from his long running post as CNN news anchor last week, but he insists it was all on good terms.
When asked if he felt like he was pushed out of CNN, Dobbs described the split as "amicable."
"Not at all," he said in a weekend interview. "I don't know if people will believe it, but we had a very amicable parting on the best of terms. I spent 29 years there building that company, and I wish everyone there nothing but the best, and they have reciprocated with me."
However, the New York Post is reporting that CNN paid $8 million to Dobbs to leave his gig earlier before his contract expired.
Dobbs, who was always vocal about his political views, has also made it very clear that he hasn't ruled out running for office.
CNN veteran reporter, John King, has already replaced Dobbs. King also anchors "State of the Union" which airs on Sunday mornings on CNN.
Rosie O'Donnell is changing her story about her relationship with Kelli Carpenter.
After having denied problems in the marriage last month, Rosie revealed on her Sirius Satellite Radio Show on Friday that she and Kelli split up years ago.
While speaking with a pet psychic about her puppy, Rosie spilled the beans.
"What happened [was] when Kelli moved out two years ago, I got the dog," O'Donnell casually explained. "Because I wanted another child or something to love. And I got the dog."
Whether she meant to drop that bomb or not, it looks like Rosie and Kelli are over.

Call it a little dab of Shameless Self Promotion, but as we extend our Music Mondays to include more than just new music - I'm plugging this short film by Stephane Sednaoui set to the song "Walk on the Wildside" by Lou Reed. Oh, and I'm also one of the stars.
For the New York socialites, this one is worth watching all the way through as you'll definitely see some familiar faces in addition to mine!
Stephane Sednaoui is one of the most brilliant video directors of our time having worked with Kylie Minogue, U2, Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more! There was never a music video produced for Lou Reed's "Walk on the Wildside", so Stephane chose to take it to a whole new level with this short film.
It was an honor to work with Sednaoui on this venture, and I can't thank him enough for including me and giving me so much face time!
Oh and in case you're wondering, the nudity in the video is not mine. (You can breathe a collective sigh of relief.) I do, however, have an overdose at the end. Sorry, didn't mean to give it away.

This musical revival charms from the word “go.” Finian’s Rainbow follows the charismatic Irish dreamer of the title (played with genuine magic by Jim Norton) and his fiery daughter Sharon (Kate Baldwin) through a fanciful version of the American south, where they go up against an intolerant Senator, a credit crisis, a wronged leprechaun, and, of course, a complicated love affair.
This is assuredly the best-sung Finian’s Rainbow that ever was. There’s no arguing with Cheyenne Jackson’s glittering delivery of “Old Devil Moon” (there’s a too-easy dirty joke in hunky Cheyenne playing a character named Woody, but I’ll leave it be). I’ve never heard a more luscious “How are Things in Glocca Morra” than the one Baldwin gives us. “Necessity” was never more passionate and moving than when sung by Terri White, and Chuck Cooper rattles the rafters in “The Begat” (I’d bet anything they turned his mic off more than once, he sings so strongly).
Director/choreographer Warren Carlyle has in general done a solid job of keeping what could have been hopelessly dated fresh and brisk. In his very briskness, though, he’s tended to gloss over some key things. The actual moment that Sharon and Woody fall in love, well, it just didn’t seem to happen. Boom, they’re in love --- which could have been magic, too, but wasn’t. Also, lyricist Yip Harburg wrote some of the funniest, jokiest lyrics in musical comedy, but as often as not the cast zoom right by the jokes.
It’s clear that choreography is Carlyle’s great strength --- when this Finian dances, it soars. If only the book scenes were as agile. These are quibbles, though, with a show that’s more often than not a genuine pleasure and delight.

Hello everybody. My name is Shealita Babay and I am appalled with this country.
Lindsay Lohan made an appearance on Thursday night at Kitson Men in West Hollywood for the Jermaine Dupree and Pascal Mouawad's Nu Pop Movement launch party. Not only was she looking like a hot mess, but she also took a few low blows at her father.
As the paparazzi surrounded Lindsay, she suggested that the photographers should be swarming her father, Michael Lohan.
"Why don't you go find my dad, he's the one who wants to be in the pictures," Lindsay joked.
Michael says he is trying to release a series of recorded messages to try and get Lindsay to check into rehab. He says the recorded calls prove that his daughter was dating Heath Ledger at the time of his death.

GAY MARRIAGE
Rhode Island Governor Don Carcieri says he would may back a domestic partnership system offering legal protections for same-sex couples.
Carcieri, who is completely against gay marriage, made his announcement after meeting with a group of gay rights activists in private.
Earlier this week, we told you that Rhode Island Governor Don Carcieri vetoed a bill that would have allowed same-sex couples to make funeral arrangements for their partners.
"The important thing here was a broader discussion that ... hopefully could go somewhere that I think might deal with a lot of these situations short of what we call marriage," he said.
This isn't the first time Governor Carcieri has considered supporting gay rights. In 2006, Carcieri told The Associated Press that he opposed gay marriage and civil unions designed specifically to benefit same-sex couples.
Kathy Griffin is evidently going to appear on an upcoming episode of "Law and Order: SVU."
"SVU" executive producer, Neal Baer, confirmed the news via his Twitter page. The episode will evidently air on February 10th.
Griffin will be playing a gay activist which goes right along with her real "life on the D-list."
ABC recently announced that Miz Griffin will host their new "Just Dance" show.

Little tid bits about Levi Johnston's Playgirl photo shoot are slowing starting to leak out, and his manager tells Us Weekly that "the shoot was fantastic!"
"People are going to see more of Levi than they thought," Tank Jones said. "There was a hockey stick involved."
Oh sweet Jesus! I can't wait to see what Levi does with said hockey stick!
Tank also says that Levi has been as cool as a cucumber during the entire shoot. As a nude model, Us reports, Johnston wasn't nervous in the slightest.

I love the CNN Newsroom during Rick Sanchez's 3 o'clock hour.
It is the most interactive news program on the web, and I manage to keep tweeting my way on there. A few months ago, Sanchez spotlighted us for making fun of him.
During the last month, our tweets have made it on their twice. The first time was when I complimented Drew Griffin for doing a good job as fill in.

This is just to die for! We always think about wives, husbands and children of soliders - but we often forget about the pets. They clearly miss their loved ones at war aw well. Check out this video :

An judge sentenced Evangelist cult leader wannabe Tony Alamo to 175 years behind bars on Friday. Alamo is accused of taking teen girls across state lines to have sexy with them.
At 74, Alamo will spend the rest of his life in prison.
"May (God) have mercy on your soul," U.S. District Judge Harry Barnes told Alamo, according to reports.
Alamo is still a bit diluted and clearly doesn't think he's done too much wrong. Before the judge slapped him with his sentence, he said:
“I’m glad I’m me and not the deceived people in the world.”
Three women testified that Alamo tried to make them his child brides and used his role as pastor and father figure to control the young girls.
When Levi Johnston wraps his Playgirl shoot in New York, he's got another invite on the calendar. His would-be mother-in-law, Sarah Palin, wants him to come over for Thanksgiving dinner.
"It's lovely to think that he would ever even consider such a thing," Palin told Oprah Winfrey in an interview set to air the day before the publication of her memoir titled "Going Rogue." />
"Because," she said, "he is a part of the family and you want to bring him in the fold and kind of under your wing. And he needs that, too, Oprah. I think he needs to know that he is loved and he has the most beautiful child and this can all work out for good."
I'm sure Sarah doesn't really want Levi to come over to her house. I mean this week he's posting nude and hanging with New York City's King of Sleeze, Daniel Nardicio. Next week, he's having Thanksgiving dinner with the most conservative woman on the planet. I seriously doubt it.

We're all feeling the slump in the economy in one way or another, but President Obama is trying to prove to us that he cares. How's he gonna do it? Obama-style, with a summit on job creation at the White House.
The president says he will pull together small-business owners, corporate executives, economists, financial experts and union leaders to discuss ideas on ways to speed up job creation in the United States.
"We all know there are limits to what government can and should do even during such difficult times," Obama said at the White House Thursday before leaving on a nine-day trip to Asia. "But we have an obligation to consider every additional, responsible step that we can to encourage and accelerate job creation in this country."
White House aides said no date has been set for the summit.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT...
Earlier this week, the New York State Senate decided to delay a vote on gay marriage. The night before, however, rallies like this one took place in Buffalo.
It's amazing to see how many people are turning out to support gay marriage in New York.
The leadership of the Senate said they do plan to vote on marriage equality by the end of the year. New York will become the sixth state to currently allow gay marriage if the measure passes.

Fergie is opening up about her sex life, and it as it turns out - she's bisexual. When asked about her getting busy with other women, Fergie admitted she has done it.
"Put it this way, I’ve experimented definitely, but I have never had a steady girlfriend,” Fergie recently told The Sun.
So is she still having sex with women? Not exactly.
When speaking with the Advocate, Fergie added.“Just because I enjoy women doesn’t mean I’m allowed to have affairs in my relationship,” the magazine quoted her. “I learned through talking with my therapist that it is still cheating even if it’s with girls, so there is a rule there.”
Her husband on the other hand, is being accused of having an affair with some ugly stripper. I doubt that too!
