Gay Bishop Gene Robinson invited to participate in Obama inauguration

Barack Obama is evidently trying to make nice with the gays after picking homophonic pastor Rick Warren to be a part of his inaugural celebrations by asking openly gay bishop Gene Robinson.
“The president-elect has respect for the Rt. Rev. Robinson, who offered his advice and counsel over the past couple of years,” an inaugural official told Politico. “It also has the benefit of further reinforcing our commitment to an open and inclusive inaugural.”
Bishop Robinson will give the innvocation to kick-off inauguaration week.
Robinson's election as the Episcopal Church's first openly gay bishop in 2003 resulted in debate and division in the Episcopal community. Warren, of course, backed Proposition 8 and made several controversial remarks such as comparing gays to pedophiles.
