Paloma becomes tropical depression after hitting Cuba [video]
Share on FacebookHurricane Paloma lost steam and was downgraded to a Tropical Depression just after hitting Cuba's coast over the weekend.
Paloma hundreds of homes along Cuba's southern coast, but quickly weakened from a dangerous Category 4 storm into a tropical depression in less than a day.
The Associated Press is reporting that the late-season storm toppled a major communications tower, interrupted electricity and phone service, but no storm-related deaths were reported.
Cuba has been pretty successful at evacuating those on coastal areas to higher grounds in time to avoid causalities from hurricanes and tropical storms. Across central and eastern Cuba, 1.2 million people were evacuate for Hurricane Paloma.
