ELECTION RESULTS 2008

I don't want to say I am giving up hope on the defeat of Proposition 8, but many media outlets are reporting that the measure will pass. That means gay marriage will be re-banned in California. The timelime and what will happen with the gay marraiges already performed are in limbo.

According to Reuters:

With 96.4 percent of precincts reporting, the California proposition -- which came about half a year after the state's highest court opened the way to gay marriage -- was ahead by more than 4 percentage points.

In San Francisco, where Mayor Gavin Newsom initiated gay marriages in City Hall and launched the legal battle resulting in recognition of same-sex unions, Obama's victory and message of change consoled proposition opponents.

If this does turn out to be the case, then this is a horrible day for civil rights. Proposition 8 is filled with discrimination and hatred.
