McCain appearance helps Letterman topple Leno

David Letterman's Thursday night show with guest, John McCain, was the highest rated "Late Show" since 2005! With things about to take a turn at NBC, this could mean good ratings news for Letterman.
Letterman's McCain interview attracted 6.53 million viewers compared to his normal 3.5 million. That put the CBS funnyman ahead of Leno's 4.57 million viewers who hosted Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr., the Democratic vice presidential nominee, that same night.
I actually prefer Letterman to Leno no matter who the guest is. Maybe it's my East Coast loyalty!
In 2009, Leno will give up his spot to Conan O'Brien who will move to Los Angeles and be replaced by "SNL" alum, Jimmy Fallon.
