MORNING CHATTER

After being the target of most of David Letterman's jokes over the past few weeks, Republican presidential nominee John McCain returned to "The Late Show" last night.

Letterman scheduled an interview with McCain last month before the Arizona Senator suspended his presidential campaign to head back to Washington to "fix the economy."

McCain canceled his Letterman appearance and told the CBS funny man that he had to rush back to D.C. While Letterman was taping, a live feed popped up of McCain sitting with Dave's colleage - Katie Couric.

Last night, McCain told Letterman: "I screwed up!"
