They wouldn't even let George W. Bush into the Republican National Convention. The McCain-Palin campaign made the sitting President address the delegates via satellite from the White House. Talk about distancing yourself from the incumbent.

It's a bit too late for Senator McCain to start trying to distance himself from President Bush. John McCain was a great moderate maverick who has basically become a Bush carbon copy.

He can't ride both sides of the fence. After several decades of service we should already know who Senator McCain is... I'm just saying...
