Two men arrested accused of plotting to kill Barack Obama in Denver
These two pretty boys were arrested this week in Denver suspected of trying to assassinate Democratic nominee Barack Obama.
One of the suspects, Nathan Johnson, spoke with the local CBS affiliate about their plot.
"So your friends were saying threatening things about Obama?" CBS4 investigative reporter Brian Maass asked.
"Yeah," Nathan Johnson replied.
"It sounded like they didn't want him to be president?"
"Yeah," Johnson said.
CBS reported on Monday that the duo was "going to shoot Obama from a high vantage point using a ... rifle ... sighted at 750 yards."
The story began emerging Sunday morning when Aurora police arrested Tharin Gartrell, 28. He was driving a rented pickup truck in an erratic manner, according to sources. That's when the story unfolded.
They both seem a bit off. I'm not sure that they have enough smarts to kill Obama, but at least they're in custody now. Cops have since said they are "not a credible threat" to Senator Obama.
The Secret Service is definitely on high alert as Obama accepts the party's nomination this week at the DNC in Denver.
