NBC apologizes for missing Matthew Mitcham's gay story line (kinda)

One thing slipped during the Olympics, that was mention of Matthew Mitcham struggles with coming out of the closet as a gay athlete and the relationship with his partner in the stands who was cheering him on.

Mitcham, as you already know, shocked the world and made history as the first Australian to win an Olympic diving gold medal in 84 years!

NBC got flooded with complaints by the LGBT community for neglecting Matthew's story, so they issued this apology:

“We regret that we missed the opportunity to tell Matthew Mitcham’s story. We apologize for this unintentional omission.”

That's it? So much for the gay movement by the network that owns Bravo!
