Barack Obama announced early this morning via text message to supporters that he has chosen Joe Biden as his Vice-Presidential running mate.

Now everyone wants to know more about Senator Joe Biden. Here's what we know about Biden's bio:

Joe Biden ran for President in 1988 challenging Michael Dukakis in the Democratic primary, but lost. During that same bid, a plagiarism scandal clouded his campaign after Biden admitted that he copied a law review article for a paper he wrote in his first year at law school. I doubt Biden's plagiarism will come up too much during this election, but it could hurt the Democrats when seeking teacher's union endorsements.

Currently in his sixth term as a United States Senator, Biden has served for the sixth-longest period among his colleagues in the Senate.

He is also the Chairman of the U.S. Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in the 110th Congress.

Earlier this year, Biden ended his unsuccessful run for the Democratic primary.

According to CNN, Senator Biden is one of the least wealthy members of the Senate and commutes between his home Delaware and D.C. when Congress is in session. Most reps have a second residency in Washington.

He's known as a straight talking Senator who isn't afraid to tell it like it is. Biden won't bite his tongue when dealing with Republicans, and he will likely challenge Obama if the two disagree.

Biden has been married twice. His first wife, Neilia Hunter, and their infant daughter died in a car accident in the early 70s. He is currently married to Jill Tracy Jacobs.

In the late 1980's, he suffered two brain aneurysms and took time off from the Senate to recover.

If elected Biden will be the first Catholic vice president and the first vice president from Delaware.
