Michael Phelps showing his bling on Sports Illustrated cover

phelpssportsillustrated.jpg

This is Michael Phelps' latest appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated, and it looks like he is wearing nothing more than his 8 gold medals.

The SI cover is inspired by a similar photo taken of Mark Spitz when he originally set the record of 7 gold medal in single games.

Phelps' Sports Illustrated cover also breaks a record itself. This is Michael's fifth cover meaning he has been on the cover of the magazine more than any other swimmer. Mark Spitz is in second with four covers.

The record for most number of SI covers ever is held by basketball star Michael Jordan, who graced the cover a stunning 49 times.

Phelps will also appear on Special Edition boxes of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and Kellogg’s Frosted Flakes, which hits store shelves in mid-September.
