Hillary Clinton opens convention with NY delegation and message of unity

Hillary Clinton arrived at the Democratic National Convention on Monday morning as she met with the New York delegation and encouraged them to do all they can for party unity this week.

"I ask each and every one of you to work as hard for Barack Obama and Joe Biden as you worked for me," Sen. Clinton told the New York delegation at a breakfast hours before the Democratic convention was to formally open in Denver. "We are united, we are together and we are determined."

Hillary was greeted with an extended standing ovation from rapturous delegates, many of whom sported Hillary pins and hats and waved signs reading "Hillary Made History."

Polls show Clinton supporters still aren't sold on Sen. Obama. Just 52% of Clinton voters plan to vote for Obama, according to a recent Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

However, a lot of the divisiveness in the Democratic party seems to be generated by the media. Sen. Clinton continually preaches party unity, and her key supporters seem to be following suit even if it is reluctantly.

Hillary will address the Democratic National Convention on tonight.
