Clinton moves for convention to elect Obama by acclamation

Hillary Clinton made a symbolic move on Wednesday afternoon by making a motion from the floor of the Democratic National Convention to nominate Barack Obama by acclamation.
The roll call vote started and some delegates had voted for Clinton while most were turning their support to Obama as per Hillary's instructions at an early morning meeting with her pledged delegates. After Clinton made the move for an acclamation vote on behalf of the New York delegation, the delegates let out a thunderous roar and declared Barack Obama as the Democratic nominee for president.
This move coupled with Hillary's speech at the convention on Tuesday night made a dramatic move toward unity for the Democratic party.
The chairperson of the roll call read a brief statement saying that Obama accepted the nomination and will give his formal acceptance speech on Thursday.
History was made today as Obama is the first African American to ever be awarded a major party's nomination.
