Barack Obama offers e-mail campaign for Gustav relief from a distance

obamagustavemails.jpg

Barack Obama looked very Presidential over the weekend by staying out of the way as the Gulf Coast prepares for Hurricane Gustav.

Like President Bush, Obama said he would not travel to the Gulf Coast area so that he doesn't interfere with rescue and evacuation efforts.

Instead the Democratic nominee said he will tap into his e-mail list of volunteers and donors to help with the relief effort if Hurricane Gustav wreaks havoc on New Orleans and surrounding areas.

Presumptive Republican nominee John McCain and his running mate Sarah Palin rushed to Mississippi to tour rescue sites. I'm not sure what that accomplishes other than a few good photos ops.

Strike one up for Obama.
