Barack Obama and John McCain define marriage at religion forum

Barack Obama and John McCain attended Rick Warren's Civil Forum at Saddleback Church over the weekend.

Warren asked both Obama and McCain to define marriage. They both said they defined marriage between a man and a woman. It was nauseating to watch. It is sad that the Democrats can't stand behind the gays like we stand behind them.

Here's Barack Obama's response:

Obama defined marriage as "the union between a man and a woman. [Applause] Now, for me as a Christian, it's also a sacred union. God's in the mix."

John McCain's response wasn't much different:

Obama and McCain did differ on the idea of a Constitutional Amendment banning gay marriage.

McCain killed Obama in this appearance. I even walked away liking John McCain.

Barack Obama should have declined to make this appearance. It only pushed him farther away from that "religious right."
