Three Democrats to watch as Californians begin gubernatorial thoughts

GavinNewsomtoohot.jpg

It's hard to believe that November's general election is barely under way and folks in California are already eying a run for Governor in 2010.

As you know, sexy San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom has already started his campaign with an exploratory committee. The new gay marriage laws could help and hurt Newsom, the pioneer to Cali's Supreme Court ruling.

There are also two other big shot Dems waiting in the wings. Also considering a run as run for Governor is Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. Villaraigosa is not only a well-like Mayor in the state's largest city, he is also the first Hispanic elected speaker of the California Assembly.

Then there's former two-term governor and current Attorney General Jerry Brown. At 70 years old, he definitely has the most experience and is very well liked among California old timers.

Democrats are hoping to take back the governor's office often held by moderate Republicans like Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. The Governator can't run again due to term limits.

So far, my money is on Newsom.
