'Sordid Lives' cast takes over New York's fag rags

Our good pals from "Sordid Lives," Del Shores and (and fellow publicity whore) Jason Dottley are throughout HX Magazine and on the cover of Next this week.
These men sure know how to take over the fag rags!
HX's team coverage of Del and Jason's visit to NYC for the premiere of their latest project "Sordid Lives: The Series" starts in the Homo Dish after the real life couple was spotted at Hot Mess:
"We were so pumped to see Ultraviolet Sound’s return performance at Hot Mess, recently relocated uptown to HK Lounge. Unfortch, the night before event promoters informed the Messes that Ultraviolet had a “can’t miss” opportunity on the West Coast, forcing them to skip town immediately following their Saturday night performance at Webster Hall. Even so, HK was a star-studded affair as the GaySocialites.com crew played host to cast and crew members from Logo’s new Sordid Lives: the Series, including star Jason Dottley, writer/director/creator Del Shores and executive producer Damian Ganczewski, who were in town for Tuesday’s NYC premiere, proceeds from which benefitted the Trevor Project."
Then further inside the pages of HX, there's a great interview with Dottley. Here are some highlights:
On coming out, would he ever considered staying in the closet?
"Oh, hell no! I get so tired of these gay actors and their internalized homophobia with all this b.s. about, “I don’t want to talk about my personal life,” yet if they were with some girl, they totally would. I would never want to have all the success that I want but be locked into a prison of being closeted."
On being a gay actor:
"I believe the reason straight actors are playing gay so often is because the gay actors aren’t willing to play the gay roles. They’re all afraid of being pigeonholed as a “gay actor.” Well, fuck you! Pigeonhole me—I’m working!"
On baring all for the role:
"My professional stage debut was in Terrance McNally’s Lisbon Traviata, and my entrance was buck-ass naked. It was the most freeing experience of my life. When we were shooting the point in Sordid Lives where I’m actually doing the gay play, I do full-frontal in the last episode for the DVD version. It’s brief—well, it’s not brief, but the scene is brief."
Meanwhile, over at Next Magazine, Jason talks about working for his husband.
Brian Moylan at Next Mag writes:
"Dottley is aware that people may say he only got his role because his husband is directing the show. “People are going to say that and that’s reality,” he says. “I got to the front of the line because of it, but I starred in [the play] and the reviews are just praise.”
On top of his own work, Dottley was glad he got to hang around the all-star cast on the Shreveport, Louisiana set. “You don’t miss out watching these people work, unless you’re an idiot,” he says. "
"Sordid Lives" premieres Wednesday, July 23rd at 10pm on Logo.
The best part is, the show is set in town called Winters, Texas! My name is sooo redneck!
