'Gossip Girl' ads spark controversy with tween drama
This is one of the latest ads for the hit CW show "Gossip Girl," and some people are furious over the provactive nature of the tween drama's campaign.
"What we're trying to do is communicate with the audience in a way that they like and can appreciate," says CW marketing director Rick Haskins. "This sort of campaign resonates with someone who likes 'Gossip Girl.'"
The show targets the female demographic between the ages of 18 and 34.
The objective was finding "well-written headlines that are provocative and would catch our viewers' attention," said Haskins, "and, in a tongue-in-cheek way, capture what the show is about."
Anyone who has ever seen an episode of "Gossip Girl" knows that these headlines definitely match the character of the show!
