A horrible beating by a police officer on a transgendered suspect was all caught on tape. I must give kudos to WMC-TV for bringing this sad case of police brutality to light.

In Memphis, Tennessee (a place I once called home); transsexual Duanna Johnson was arrested for suspected prostitution.

When the cops got him back to the police station, the abuse began.

The fat bald pig responsible for booking Johnson was calling her a "faggot" and "he-she." Since Duanna refused to respond to his derragoatory remarks, the cop came over and started hitting her in the head.

"Actually he was trying to get me to come over to where he was, and I responded by telling him that wasn't my name - that my mother didn't name me a 'faggot' or a 'he-she,' so he got upset and approached me. And that's when it started," Johnson said.

"He said, 'I'm telling you, I'm giving you one more chance to get up.' So I'm looking at him, and he started putting his gloves on, and seen him take out a pair of handcuffs," Johnson added.

The cop wrapped the handcuffs around his hand and pounded Duanna over the head. Another cop even held her down while his partner abused Johnson.

Is this the kind of stuff that goes on in Memphis even in 2008?

The FBI and District Attorney are both investigation. The Memphis Police Department says the cop that held Duanna down was fired as he was already on probation. Classy.

The cop who through the punches is currently on non-enforcement status pending an administrative hearing.
