Mimi Imfurst launches campaign for Drag Queen of the Year
She's back!
Mimi Imfurst has been nominated as "Drag Queen of the Year" by HX Magazine again this year, so you can expect an interesting contest.
Last year, Mimi whipped out her campaign slogan "Sometimes the Fat Retarded Girl Deserves to Win" and hit the campaign trail.
This year, Ms. Imfurst has recruited a running mate. You can read the whole press release from Mimi's camp after the jump.
Her running mate is self proclaimed YouTube "icon" Britney Houston. Never heard of her, but I definitely give Mimi an A+++ on creativity.
June 1, 2008- New York, NY- Yesterday at a brief campaign stop at west village landmark GREY'S PAPAYA Mimi Imfurst announced that drag queen youtube icon BRITNEY HOUSTON will be joining Imfurst on her ticket for her bid for HX DRAG QUEEN OF THE YEAR 2008. Imfurst said that after a loss for HX Drag Queen of the Year 2007 she is stepping up her game. "Last year, I thought I had a really clear campaign slogan- "Sometimes the Fat Retarded Girl Deserves to Win"- but America's gay population voted for Sherry Vine, the OLD retarded girl. This year I need to be more specific and diversify my campaign."
Recent exit polls show that Imfurst is popular with blue-collar working gays while Houston shows strong holdings amongst more wealthy and elite homosexual and homosexual enthusiasts. Imfurst believes that Houston will help unify the many gay political parties: "I'm hoping to bring the Black Party, the White Party and the Grand Old After Party together with this new ticket, because together we can defeat the incumbent Sherry Vine, current HX drag queen of the year." Her crowd at GREY'S PAPAYA responded with chants of 'YES WE CAN!, YES WE CAN!'
As Imfurst and Houston shared a recession special they noted how many gay Americans are pinching their wallets. The price of a Vodka Cranberry has reached $9.25 at some happy hour bars. "How are gays supposed to keep food on their tables and poppers in their pockets? The community is starting to make tough choices, and I think the clear choice is to vote for Imfurst/Houston in 2008. When Ms. Mimi is elected Drag Queen of the Year, we'll be able to bring our tricks home on day one- if Vine had her way they'll be out on the streets for another hundred years! " Britney Houston added.
Mimi Imfurst continued- "It's not enough to be ready on day one- it's about being right on day one! And we are. It is clear that we are the candidates of change in comparison to some of the other (significantly older) candidates of the establishment.
For we have a choice in this country. We can accept a politics that breeds division, and conflict, and cynicism, but if we do, I can tell you that in the next election, we'll be talking about some other distraction. And then another one. And then another one. And nothing will change.
That is one option. Or, at this moment, in this election, we can come together and say, "Not this time." This time we can change, change our lives faster than your sexually explicit ads get 'flagged for removal' on Craigslist. This time we can stop people from winking at us on manhunt. This time we can turn off our computers and go meet a person the old fashioned way- in a dark, poorly lit, seedy gay bar with no windows and a strange odor of shame and desperation! Yes we can!"
As Imfurst finished her speech the audience chanted, "Yes we can! Yes we can!" while enjoying cheese dogs and papaya juice.
A recently CNN poll shows IMFURST leading in well-hung super delegates 2-1.
