Cubans have come a long way already this year, and gay Cubans are about to take a major step forward - with a Gay Pride Parade - of course!

Working with Florida's Unity Coalition, activists in Cuba have put together the first pride march of its kind on the island.

Participants will meet in Havana's Don Quixote park for today's parade and march to the Ministry of Justice to deliver a series of demands.

Marchers seek an apology from the Cuban government for its past repression and, in some cases, incarceration of openly gay citizens and the inhumane treatment of prisoners with AIDS, according to Unity.
