The word "homsexual' turns 140 years old today

One hundred and forty years ago, on May 6, 1868, the word homosexuality was invented.
Who knew we were that old?!
Before that, “bugger,” “molly,” “sodomite,” or “pederast” were used for people who were romantically involved with someone of the same sex.
"Homosexual" is starting to sound really good, huh?
As more and more people started to defend same-sex relations, they realized there was no word to describe man on man and woman on woman love.
The word "homsexual" finally came around when Hungarian journalist Karl-Maria Kertbeny (or Károly Mária Kertbeny) released a pro-gay pamphlet titled, "aragraph 143 of the Prussian Penal Code and Its Maintenance as Paragraph 152 of the Draft of a Penal Code for the North German Confederation."
Now you know!
