Tel Aviv erecting gay holocaust memorial

Gay and Lesbian holocaust victims will be honored with a new momument in the Meir Garden in Tel Aviv, according to Mayor Ron Huldai.
The design borrows from the big pink triangle, a symbol gays were forced to wear while living in concentration camps.
A quarter of a million homosexuals were persecuted during the Holocaust, and tens of thousands were murdered because the Nazis referred to gays and lesbians as deviants.
The monument will be the first in Israel to commemorate these victims. Four others exist worldwide, in Sydney, Copenhagen, Berlin, and Amsterdam.
