Tammy Faye Bakker's son Jay is trying to step in where his mother left off in support gay youth and struggling gay Christians.

Jay Bakker recently invited one of my most inspirational mentors, Joel Osteen, to a Mother's day picnic for nontraditional families to be held Saturday in Texas.

Osteen has tried to ride a fine line between accepting gays and the traditional Christian religion, but this would definitely be a step forward in accepting everyone!

Osteen is an award winning author who preaches weekly at Lakewood Church in Texas. He is known as the "smiling preacher" and is probably most famous for turning the Compact Center into a stadium sized church.

I have my fingers crossed that Joel accepts this offer! It would be a huge step forward for gay Christians.
