Is the CW network failing? What about "Gossip Girl?"

Things aren't looking too good for the new CW network. Even a hit prime time tweeny drama like "Gossip Girl" can't keep the channel alive!
It's been two years since CBS Corp. and Time Warner Inc. combined UPN and the WB to create the CW, a network targeting that all important 18-35 demographic.
Advertisers flocked to the CW when it first launched hoping the merger would land the younger audience and create a niche demographic perfect for advertisers. Evidently that isn't working as well as they had hoped.
That younger demo is hard to get, especially when you're competing with the web. Competition from the net even caused the CW network to stop offering "Gossip Girl" online.
