Hillary Clinton defeated Barack Obama in Indiana on Tuesday night, a defeat that hits close to home for Obama.

It took until the wee hours of the morning to have a definite winner. Hillary started with a significant lead that dwindled through out the night until the state finally went in the Clinton column.

One of the last areas to report was in the Northeast corner of Indiana. Lake County, for some reason, held the majority of the votes until they released the majority of the county. Some were claiming dirty politics since the mayor of Gary, Indiana Rudy Clay is so connected with Obama.

In the end, Clinton scored around 51% of Indiana's vote leaving Obama with 49.

No matter what anyone says, this win in Indiana is a big win for Senator Clinton. Indiana is in Barack Obama's back yard, and for Hillary to win a state that Obama was once handed is very impressive.

Hillary basically battled Obama on his turf and beat him. That is something Barack Obama couldn't do in the prime of his campaign for Super Tuesday in New Jersey and other neighboring states to New York.

This part of the country knows Barack Obama better than anyone, and it tells me something to hear that not all of them want to see him as President. Use Hammond, Indiana as an example. It touches Chicago, and Hillary won there.

Clinton may have grabbed Indiana by just a few votes, but any win in Indiana is a big win.

Barack Obama predicted that Hillary would win Pennsylvania, he would win North Carolina and that Indiana would be the tie-breaker. It looks like Clinton won the tie-breaker.
