Things are getting crazy over at "American Idol!" Evidently, David Archuletta's dad has been axed from the backstage portion of David's prep for the show.

Jeff Archueletta is evidently one of those psycho stage dads who does things like choose David's songs and even change lyrics to classics.

According to TMZ, the "American Idol" producers decided they have had enough and got fed up when Jeff convinced David to add a line from "Beautiful Girls" into his "Stand By Me" performance for last week's "Idol" show.

The producers supposedly sent Jeff to meet with the legal department saying it would cost "Idol" a lot of money to make that change and that David should stick with the original lyrics to "Stand By Me."

Jeff told David to do it anyway, and now "Idol" has banned Daddy Archuletta from all back stage access.
