'Semi-Pro' takes top spot at box office, fails to break records

Will Ferrell's latest flick "Semi-Pro" was both a semi-flop and a semi-success at the box office this weekend.
"Semi-Pro" nabbed the top spot based on box office estimates, but failed to reach 'hit' status.
The film cost $57 million film to make, but only managed to nab about $15 million this weekend. The box office can blame "Semi-Pro's" R-rated status for the failure since a lot of Ferrell's younger following was left out.
"Vantage Point" ranked second with $13 million, followed by "The Spiderwick Chronicles" with nearly $9 million. The other new entry this weekend, "The Other Boleyn Girl", was close behind with more than $8 million. Fox' "Jumper" rounded out the top five with $7.6 million in ticket sales.
