Not-so-gay magazine editor Neal Boulton - cheating or not?
Neal Boulton is the controversial editor of Genre magazine. Neal says he is bi-sexual, and some say that isn't gay enough to run a gay magazine. But it is his problem with women that has him in the headlines now.
Rumor has it, Boulton is sleeping with his nanny. Neal insists, however, that he is happily rekindling his relationship with his estranged wife Claire.
So why all the gossip?
Boulton says the chatter is the dirty work of disgruntled gays, some angry about his 'swing both ways' lifestyle and others who are mad over his restructuring of HX Magazine.
"I do think I have annoyed gay folks, even though I have been riskily honest about all of my proclivities, including women," Neal said.
"And I was recently hired as a consultant to re-launch HX, a small free bar magazine, which shares Genre offices," he added. "I made major changes there and believe I may have p—ed off some HX people because their spies saw me out with her."
And as for the rumors of Neal boinking the nanny...
"The truth [is], yes, she is living in my old place. Yes, Claire is aware of this . . . But despite what many think, I never had a relationship with her of any kind. If I had, I'd have bragged about it . . . She's categorically very hot, very French and very cool. And I know folks saw us out a couple of times at Cipriani . . . and yes, we were cozy, and friendly — but we are not, and were not, lovers. "Hey, but so what if I had been seeing her? Folks tend to forget there is a 'B' in LGBT [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender] — a 'B' that I blatantly acknowledged in my first editor's letter [in Genre]. In general I don't care who I p— off. Claire has my back and my life is amazing. "I have been very open about my . . . very David Bowie life. I have said that I don't think there are enough numbers on the Kinsey scale to define my sexuality."
I thought the "B" in LGBT stood for stingy. Can you really have your cake and eat it too?
