Coming out of the closet
GaySocialites.com would like to congratulate 88 year old Loraine Barr for coming out of the closet. Barr wrote her coming out story in a four page essay to the "My Turn" section in Newsweek magazine.
For heaven's sake," Barr said, recounting that day in May when she finally decided to mail off her essay. "I'm 88 years old. What difference does it make to anybody? It doesn't make a difference to anybody now."
Barr had the same female lover for 44 years while family, friends and neighbors did even know.
We are so proud of her for coming out of the closet!
Too bad some celebs like Jodie Foster can't follow Loraine's lead. Jodie once again dodged questions about her carpet munching from Entertainment Weekly in their latest edition.

“There’s only one subject that [Foster] firmly swats away. A recent Out magazine cover featured two models holding up pictures of her and Anderson Cooper’s faces in front of their own, under the headline ‘The Glass Closet: Why Stars Won’t Come Out And Play.’ When asked if she has any response, Foster says, ‘Was that the one with the Popsicle sticks?’ Her thin lips tighten into a calm half smile of reproach: ‘No, I have no response.’”
Most people in the "know" speculate that Foster is dating her long time "friend," Cydney Bernard.
However, both women have stayed pretty tight lipped about it.

Comments
Give Jodie a break. She wears a wedding ring, gave her children her girlfriend's name and hers. She has never denied anything. I'm gay and I'm out, and I think that gay people should have good gay celeb role models, but maybe this isn't about us. Maybe her family is really conservative and her mother won't speak to her if she comes out publicly, and she wants her children to have grandparents. I would like someone to asks her how she feels about gay politics instead of is she gay. She is. duh.
